Jie Jie

A neighbor girl came over the other day to play, Caed calls her Jie Jie (older sister). She was SOOOOOOO unimpressed when Caed knocked over her lego creations. You could tell she has never had to share or play with little kids since she wailed anytime Caed would touch her.
See Caed hiding in his blankie on the couch in this pic.

They got better and better at playing together as the 'date' went on. Usually Caed plays at her house but sometimes she comes here too.

early learning

Caed found our game drawer the other day and is now obsessed with 'playing games' (yeah!!! we love games). Here he is playing chess - just learning the names of all the 'players' and practicing putting them on their squares.

i love Sean's face in this one!

Learning Chinese

This is where Caed learns Chinese - outside with his little pengyou men.
Though most of them speak local dialect...hum.

"lets play together with this car"
"look at my shoes they have xiyangyang on them"

"i push you now"

"i want another one of those snacks please"
* this is probably his best Chinese sentence (or most used)

oh and have i ever mentioned that construction NEVER stops here??? well it makes little boys happy to look at cranes, excavators, and men with pick axes all day long.

mayo and chopsticks

what makes Sean happy all the time?
milk + mayo + ranch packets
what makes Sean sad?
this was his last Ranch packet..

Caed really using his child chopsticks to eat noodles!!! he doesn't pinch them around food the real way but he is definitely able to get food in his mouth with them!

I Love...

My mom and dad :) I love watching the way you love each other and serve each other. Through surgeries and other ailments, I love seeing you guys be married. Thank you for being such a good example to us. I love watching how you take care of each other.
Let's all not grow weary of serving our spouses!

i can't resist adding some pictures

dad looks like Pres. Bartlet from west wing in this pic (Martin Sheen) - also like the head Rescue Hero from that kids cartoon...

New Park and free Fish Candy

We have really been enjoying our last few weeks of summer before school starts up again. Last week we went to a new park outside of the city. Caed ended up crying shortly after this pic was taken b/c a tree "binched' him (that is bit and pinched) and got his foot wet.

C & G throw things off the hill

picnic lunch.

And the fish candy. Caed went up to this group of locals, we were all watching from a distance wondering what goodies he would inevitably return with. When he came back his mouth was full of something that smelled very fishy. Yes it was some sort of dried fish snack. So gross. Glad he will get to experience lots of different foods here - as I would NEVER give him fish flavored candy/snacks. He also came back with a jelly juice drink too.

Akka Nine

Have I mentioned before that Caed loves his transformers toys? He has never seen the cartoon or movie but Sean often makes up stories about the characters to tell to Caed  (like about how they share their toys and brush their teeth :). Caed calls Optimus Prime - Akka Nine (so we do to.

My favorite part is how when he changes them from cars to 'people' he hums the theme song

"caed smile with your teeth"

acting out the stories daddy tells

transforming them back

CheChe Time

our friends came over earlier in the week and we took the kids outside to have races on their cars

i had to cheat in order to try and beat sean

not sure if the adults or the kids had more fun

Who's that Monkey

this little monkey climbed onto the counter to brush his teeth the other day

and rinse

playing with his 'prize' he got for not banging on his door when he woke up in the morning

also as i was writing this post Caed woke up from his nap, when i opened his door he held out his hand and said, "i got a piece of your hair on my hand mommy" - yeah my hair gets all over the place

OOooooo that sounds good Mommy

This is my new favorite thing Caed says. He still ends all sentences with someones name (mostly Mommy).  Lately he has been asking questions like, "where are we going" "what are we doing" etc. And when I answer - no matter what I say he replys, "oooooo that sounds good Mommy"

For example - I said we are going to the store. He asks to buy what. I say apple vinegar and honey and he says "Oooooo that sounds good Mommy" "I want to try that"

Speaking of the apple vinegar it is so not the same thing here as back home. I was trying to make shredded pork with it and it was super sweet, so i added regular vinegar - bad idea. After a few hours in the crockpot it smelled so bad. I went in the kitchen to turn it off and cut up the pork and i was gaging. I burned my nose, throat and eyes. It was horrible, and soooooo sour tasting. So lesson learned there.

Lastly in regards to my computer. It is getting a new hard drive! and for free. It is being flown in from Shanghai and we may have the computer back in a week. I can't wait! Sean's computer is quite finiky so sometimes I can get on the VPN to check our blog and sometimes not.

i went into caed's room the other night before I went to bed and found him asleep like this in his reading corner (not in his big boy bed). many times i find him asleep on the floor in front of his door too.

Computer Trouble

Yesterday morning while talking with my brother on Skype my computer crashed... So very sad. My Mac is 3 years old and only has 2 weeks left under apple care. My wonderful husband took it into the city yesterday to an authorized apple fixer person and they said it was my operating system that failed. So they installed a new one and sent him home. At home Sean started to re-put everything on my computer (guess how thankful I am for a husband who often makes a back-up dick image of my hard drive?!!!!). Then around 10:30pm the new system was acting up and wasnt compatible with my old system stuff. So Sean stayed up very late putting my old OS back on the computer. Then this morning it froze again.... ah the pain. I feel so bad for Sean, he is working so hard on it. I have an amazing husband. He is sleeping sitting up on the couch right now as I write this waiting to see if putting on the old OS again will help.

Ps. I really have no idea what I am talking about - can you tell????

Pray that this works and that if there is a major problem we could find out before our insurance runs out on August 25th.

I am on Sean's computer right now, but we can't get back on FB until mine is running. Sean's computer is like a whole new world to me since it is Linux...

Down Stairs

Sean and Caed went out to play while I was making dinner tonight.
This is the view of them from our bedroom window on the 3rd floor. It has been raining a lot lately and the greenery is so pretty!

Free Stuff

Caed often comes home with things people give him while we are outside. Small toys, balloons, snacks, grapes, apples...
and today half of a mini watermelon - or XiGua if you ask him.
See how he is taking big bites out of the skin???
The other day I took Caed to the market and the lady I buy pork from handed him a bunch of grapes... hum should he be eating grapes from someone who handles raw pork all day, good thing he has a 'strong' stomach - or better yet thanks to everyone at home who is praying for him to stay healthy!

Names, Black Spot & Muffins

This is a bad pic of Caed but the story is great. He is super into knowing thinsg names lately. He asks all the time "What's his name Mommy?" (about people and cars) or "what is this one called Mommy?" Sean answer is always the 'color of the object + ie" So a red car becomes "reddie" and a yellow car "yellowie"
Caed got these little men the other day and I asked him, "what are their names Caedmon" and he looked at them and said...

Blackie and Bluie (of course!)

sad, sad, sad
There is a black spot in our camera - i have no idea how it got there and i am very sad about it. anyone know if i can get rid of it??? or do we need a new camera (and yes i tried cleaning the lens)

homemade english muffins - yummmmmmmmmmmm
