Ugh. It's 11:48pm and I cannot sleep. That has been happening lately.
I have been thinking a while now about writing a 'confession' post. Tonight I was looking at another blog and read about this amazing birthday party someone threw for their 4 year old. And all I could think was, "Wow that is crazy, I could not pull that off! I'm happy if I get three meals a day into each family member, a load of laundry done and a shower!"
I don't have it all together. I hope that you out there who read this blog don't think I have it all together. It is easy to make life look glorious and beautiful on my blog. It is easy to present myself as being a good mom/wife/daughter/friend. But truth is what ends up on here is for the most part the good (well recently at least) and not the bad and the ugly :)
So to make you feel better (or maybe just make myself feel better!) in case you are like me and a bit tired of seeing how amazing other moms are making crazy exciting St. Patricks day and Easter parties/activities/crafts for their kids {maybe I need a break from Pinterest too, that can sure make me feel bad about myself and my abilities some days!} here are my confessions of late:
We argue. More than I would like, less than we did during the infertility roller coaster, but still more than I would like.
My son and I can get on each others nerves. We have very similar personalities. We may have gotten into an arguing match {with my 4 year old!?} recently because he would not do homeschool with me unless it was science. I may have also eaten my lunch by myself in a corner that day because I was so frustrated.
We don't eat great, though I am trying to be better. A short time back a friend came over at 10 am and asked why there was a jar of pickles on the table so early. Ashamedly I admit that I fed Caed pickles and gold fish crackers for breakfast - geez.
On eating, I wish we would eat more as a family at the table. Why is it such a draw for us to watch a show while we eat? I didn't grow up doing that. I hope we can get this more under control this year.
I think about what I look like way more than I would like to admit. I want to be happy with my body. I hate that I let every part of my life at times be affected by how much I weigh or how my clothes fit.
I still have a bag of luggage that has not been unpacked and put away from California - we have been home over a month now!
I try to wake Caed up almost every night before I go to bed and tell him how much I love him because I LOVE hearing his groggy, sleepy voice.
Umm now I am feeling tired. It is 12:06 am. Maybe getting all these confessions down in writing is just what I needed to be able to sleep a long good night sleep :)
Hope you all have a blessed day. I am thankful this week to celebrate Good Friday and Easter, and to remember that none of us are perfect, but the Perfect one did die for us. I don't now, nor will I ever have it all together here on earth. It is okay to struggle, it is not normal to have a picture perfect life. It is our life, some days a bit more of a mess than others but it is a beautiful mess.
