School Field Trip

Today is labor day here in China. This weekend Caed's preschool had a special field trip (literally a trip to a field in the park!) to celebrate. It was really fun! There was a part where they did parent/child group dancing - that is what they are doing in this picture.

Then there were games. This was sort of like duck duck goose, but when you got caught you had to do a 'performance' in the middle of the circle for everyone.

Then they got to decorate kites

Everyone brought a snack to share and they put them all on a mat and it was a candy/juice/chip/seaweed free for all. Here is C with some of his classmates

And then lots of attempted kite flying. It was really fun to get to spend more time with his classmates and their families. Caed has been enjoying school so much more recently and we are very thankful. One funny thing was that out of the hundreds of people there we were the only ones who brought a blanket to sit on. Everyone else used plastic bags or newspaper. Several people kept coming up to us and commenting on how smart it was to bring a blanket to sit on!

The next day Sean and I took Caed to a local river to fish for tadpoles.

We caught three, who currently live with us.

And we bought a little tiny turtle, it was 85 cents!

That evening we went to one of Caed's friend from school houses for dinner. They boys had fun playing and eating.

Caed later told us,

"This was the bestest day of my whole life."

Fort Maker and Rock Star

Last week Caed and Sean built this fort in C's room.

Caed slept in it for FIVE nights, until I finally had to take it down.

Last week at Sean's school there was a Rock N Roll themed English corner. There were tons of students there and they brought in this all girl band that played all these famous English rock songs. Anyway Caed asked right away if he would be allowed on the microphone. So in the middle of their set they called Caed up to sing a rock song. He was soooooo excited. He sand the Larry Boy theme song and got a huge applause. We videoed it and watching him watch himself on video is almost as entertaining as watching the video itself.

It has been such nice weather here. This is at the park across the street from our house.

We usually have a picnic here at least once a week. Playing tag is a favorite pastime right now.
